Glossary

The words the Hub uses, and what each one decides.

Organisation

A studio, team, school or individual account. Plans belong to it; members inherit them. A freelancer is an organisation of one.

Team access

Owner, admin or member: who may manage the roster. The permission axis, separate from a job title.

Job title

Artist, supervisor, producer, head of studio, director, coordinator: what someone does on a show. Never a permission.

Seat

A person's place on a plan. In assigned seat mode it is the tick on their row; Professional seats float across the studio; Freelancer seats are named and capped at two.

Seat mode

How a studio's licences reach its members: 'everyone' gives every member every licence the studio holds; 'assigned' gives each person only what an administrator ticked.

Plan

What an organisation holds for a product: internal, Freelancer, Professional, Student, Institution, Review team, Review enterprise.

Channel

Which releases an account sees: Internal, Beta, Stable.

Release policy

An organisation's rule for default channel, allowed channels and version range, per product.

Delta update

An update that downloads only the bytes that changed between two versions. Why an update to 0.1.4 is 10 MB, not 80.

Licence session

The one-launch, machine-bound permission the Hub hands the compositor at Launch. Headless render needs none.

Temporary password

What an invited artist signs in with once. It opens the website's account setup, not the Hub, and dies the moment they choose their own.

Profile

A person's name, job title and picture. Filled in on the website — at checkout by whoever bought, on the setup page by everyone a studio added.

School licence

An institution licence covering every student who confirms a school-issued email address. The school registers its domains once; students claim their seat on forgedstu.com.
