Eraser
Overview
The eraser treats freehand differently from geometry. Dragging through a pen stroke cuts away exactly the part inside the eraser and splits the survivors into separate strokes, even on a fast stroke drawn with a mouse; a click on a shape or a text box removes it outright. A ring around the pointer shows its size. It is built for sketching on a drawing tablet: press the pen's side button to flip between the eraser and the tool you were drawing with, or turn the pen over and erase with its eraser end without changing tools.
How to
- Pick the eraser (E), or press your tablet pen's side button.
- Drag across pen work, or click a shape.
- Press P (or the side button again) to go back to drawing.
- Its size follows the width slider.
Known edges
One eraser drag is one undo step, not one per pointer sample. The side button works because tablets send it as a right-click; if yours is set to something else in the tablet driver, set it to Right Click. A right-click with a mouse does the same flip. E and P never fire while typing, and Cmd/Ctrl+P still prints.
