Live review sessions

ReviewSince 1.1

Overview

A session is ad hoc and belongs to a playlist. Press ◉ Go live on any playlist (or Join, when a session is already running) and everyone lands on the same daily at the same frame, plays and pauses together, and watches each other sketch stroke by stroke. Pointers are shared too, so “this bit here” works. Saving a sketch or a note nudges everyone else to pick it up.

Playing runs locally on each machine from the moment the room started playing, so nobody waits on the network for smooth playback; anyone who drifts more than half a second is pulled back. Pause and scrub are exact — which is where notes actually get made.

The host drives, and may hand control to anyone in the room (clients included) or hand the session over entirely. Moving to another daily takes the room with you when you can drive; if you can't, you simply stop following rather than being pulled back, and Rejoin brings you back to the room. Break away to look around on your own: while you're away you don't drive, and the room carries on without you. Clients join only their own client playlist, follow along, and drive only if the host says so — they never host.

Leaving is in two places: “● Live · Leave” at the top of the reviewer, and Leave in the session bar. A host can also close the session for everyone at once.

How to

  1. Open a playlist (or a daily from one) and press ◉ Go live.
  2. Everyone else sees ● Live on that playlist and presses Join.
  3. Sketch, point and talk it through; each person still saves their own drawover.
  4. Give control from the session bar when someone else should drive.

Known edges

Voice is not part of this — use whatever call you already run. A client's link shows “Live review in progress” only while the studio is actually in the room. If the studio leaves, clients keep watching but nobody drives. Sessions live in the app's memory, so a server restart ends them; nothing else is lost, since sketches are saved the normal way.
