BS_EdgeExtend
Keyingv1coreNeeds full inputForge
Overview
Pushes edge colour outward smoothly — as far as you like, up to filling the whole frame. Blacksmith's answer to the dilate-based extends that streak and die after a few dozen pixels. Use before a defocus (so it drags colour, not black), to fill depth-pass holes, or to extend despilled edge colour. Alpha is never touched.
How to
How-to
- Wire the element; the edge comes from its alpha, or the

Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| mode | Choice | distance | distance pushes the edge colour out by distance pixels; fill frame extends it to the whole frame — the data window grows with it. distancefill frame |
| distance | Float | 64.0 | How far past the edge the colour is extended, pixels. |
| pre_erode | Float | 0.0 | Erode the matte by this many pixels before extending, so a contaminated fringe is thrown away and clean interior colour is what gets pulled out. |
| quality | Float | 4.0 | How many refinement passes the extension runs — higher is smoother far from the edge and slower. |
| stability | Bool | false | Damp frame-to-frame change in the extended colour so a still plate does not shimmer past its edge. |
| matte_source | Choice | alpha | What defines the edge: the input's own alpha, or the wired matte input. alphamatte |
| disabled | Bool | false | Bypass: the node passes its first input through untouched (D in the graph). The knobs keep their values for when it comes back. |
| label | Text | A note shown under the node in the graph — what this node is FOR. Never affects the render or the cache. | |
| hide_input | Bool | false | Draw the node without its input wire — a tidy graph for a node whose source is obvious (a Dot, a viewer tap). |
