Comp

Compv1core

Overview

A whole comp inside one node, like a Houdini subnet or an After Effects precomp. Double-click it (or Enter / I) to open its own node graph; U comes back up. The Output inside is what this node shows. Wire pictures into its pins and an Input node inside picks each one up. Shift+C collapses selected nodes into a new Comp; Explode (in its panel) puts them back.

How to

How-to

  1. Tab → Comp: it is born with an Output inside.
  2. Double-click it (or I / Enter) to go in; build as usual, and wire the result into the Output. U goes back up.
  3. Add a CompInput per input; its index is the pin on the Comp's tile it reads.
  4. Shift+C collapses the selected nodes into a Comp without changing the picture; Explode on the panel puts them back.
  5. Reach inside from an expression with a path: Comp1/Merge1.mix. See comp-networks.

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultWhat it does
disabledBoolfalseBypass: the node passes its first input through untouched (D in the graph). The knobs keep their values for when it comes back.
labelTextA note shown under the node in the graph — what this node is FOR. Never affects the render or the cache.
hide_inputBoolfalseDraw the node without its input wire — a tidy graph for a node whose source is obvious (a Dot, a viewer tap).
