MotionBlur

Filterv1coreNeeds full input

Overview

Adds directional motion blur — a shutter for moves that don't have one. On footage it solves the motion between this frame and its neighbours itself (Nuke's MotionBlur) and smears along it; after a Transform, MotionVectors or a render carrying motion vectors it smears along those in one pass.

How to

How-to

  1. Set samples and max_motion; the node estimates motion between frames and blurs along it.
  2. After a Transform (or anything that carries motion vectors) the blur follows the transform's own motion in a single pass — the upstream renders once, not once per sample.
  3. For a renderer's vectors use VectorBlur.

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultWhat it does
channelsChoicergbaWhich channels this node writes: rgba, rgb (alpha passes through untouched), alpha only, all, or none (bypass). Everything unselected comes straight from the input — same as Nuke. allrgbargbalphanone
samplesInt5Taps along the motion across the shutter. More is smoother.
shutterFloat0.5Shutter time as a fraction of a frame: 0.5 = 180°. How long the blur smears.
vector_detailFloat0.3The resolution the motion is solved at, as a fraction of the plate (Nuke's Vector Detail). 0.3 is fast and smooth; raise it for small deforming areas.
motionChoiceregularizedregularized fills the vectors where the picture had nothing to track and smooths the field; local keeps the raw solve. regularizedlocal
vectorsChoiceautoauto smears along a motion layer already in the stream (a Transform, MotionVectors, a render) and solves the flow otherwise; flow always solves from the picture. autoflow
max_motionFloat0.0Motion above this many pixels per frame is capped — keeps a bad vector from smearing across the frame. 0 = no cap.
disabledBoolfalseBypass: the node passes its first input through untouched (D in the graph). The knobs keep their values for when it comes back.
labelTextA note shown under the node in the graph — what this node is FOR. Never affects the render or the cache.
hide_inputBoolfalseDraw the node without its input wire — a tidy graph for a node whose source is obvious (a Dot, a viewer tap).
