SplatDissolve

3Dv1app

Overview

Dissolves splats away — the effect node for reveals, disintegrations and hologram assembles. A FIELD decides the order: sweep runs from your placed ▶ start point to your ⏹ end point (click them in the 3D viewer), noise sizzles everywhere at once, distance grows from the start point outward, axis wipes along X/Y/Z, matte projects a 2D matte through a camera and dissolves what it covers (a Roto or Crucible key eating a capture — the cross-system trick). Keyframe progress 0→1 to play the effect; shrink makes splats evaporate instead of ghosting. A Directed region (box/sphere) limits it to one object. Chain several with different fields and regions for multiple effects on one capture.

How to

How-to

  1. Put it after a SplatTransform on a splat capture.
  2. Pick a field: sweep runs from the ▶ start point to the ⏹ end point (click them in the 3D viewer); noise, distance, axis and matte are the others.
  3. Keyframe progress 0 → 1 to play the dissolve; shrink makes splats evaporate instead of ghosting.
  4. A region limits it to one object.

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultWhat it does
fieldChoicesweepWhat orders the dissolve: sweep (start → end, the placed points), noise (everywhere, sized by noise_scale), distance (grows from the start point out to radius), axis (a wipe along X/Y/Z), matte (a 2D matte through camera decides). sweepnoisedistanceaxismatte
progressFloat1.0How far the dissolve has run, 0 = untouched to 1 = fully applied. THIS is the knob you keyframe to play the effect over the shot.
start_xFloat0.0The ▶ start point's X — click it in the 3D viewer with place start.
start_yFloat0.0The ▶ start point's Y — click it in the 3D viewer with place start.
start_zFloat0.0The ▶ start point's Z — click it in the 3D viewer with place start.
end_xFloat0.0The ⏹ end point's X — click it in the 3D viewer with place end.
end_yFloat1.0The ⏹ end point's Y — click it in the 3D viewer with place end.
end_zFloat0.0The ⏹ end point's Z — click it in the 3D viewer with place end.
shrinkBoolfalseShrink splats as they fade instead of only fading opacity — they read as evaporating rather than ghosting.
noise_scaleFloat1.0The noise field's feature size, world units — small is a fine sizzle, large is slow lobes.
seedInt1The random pattern's starting point. Change it for a different pattern of the same character; keep it to reproduce a frame exactly.
radiusFloat1.0Distance field: the dissolve runs 0 at the start point to 1 at this radius.
axisInt1Axis field: which axis the wipe runs along — 0 = X, 1 = Y, 2 = Z.
axis_fromFloat0.0Axis field: the coordinate where the wipe begins.
axis_toFloat1.0Axis field: the coordinate where the wipe ends.
cameraTextThe Camera3D the matte is projected through.
matteTextMatte field: the NAME of a 2D node whose alpha, seen through camera, decides which splats dissolve.
regionChoiceoffLimit the dissolve to a box or sphere so it hits one object, not the world — the difference between an effect and a directed effect. offboxsphere
region_min_xFloat-1.0Region box: the X of the near corner, world units.
region_min_yFloat-1.0Region box: the Y of the near corner, world units.
region_min_zFloat-1.0Region box: the Z of the near corner, world units.
region_max_xFloat1.0Region box: the X of the far corner, world units.
region_max_yFloat1.0Region box: the Y of the far corner, world units.
region_max_zFloat1.0Region box: the Z of the far corner, world units.
region_center_xFloat0.0Region sphere: the X of its centre, world units.
region_center_yFloat0.0Region sphere: the Y of its centre, world units.
region_center_zFloat0.0Region sphere: the Z of its centre, world units.
region_radiusFloat1.0Region sphere: its radius, world units.
disabledBoolfalseBypass: the node passes its first input through untouched (D in the graph). The knobs keep their values for when it comes back.
labelTextA note shown under the node in the graph — what this node is FOR. Never affects the render or the cache.
hide_inputBoolfalseDraw the node without its input wire — a tidy graph for a node whose source is obvious (a Dot, a viewer tap).
