SplatWarp

3Dv1app

Overview

Pushes splats around — drift, wind, swirl, scatter. On the default sweep field the push blows from your placed ▶ start point toward your ⏹ end point (click them in the 3D viewer) — wind you can aim by clicking twice. noise swirls everywhere; distance pushes away from the start point (explode) or, negative amount, pulls toward it (implode); axis shears along X/Y/Z. amount is the push in metres — keyframe it to animate. A Directed region limits it to one object. Warped splats emit motion, so they blur correctly in the 2D comp.

How to

How-to

  1. Put it after a SplatTransform.
  2. On the default sweep field, click the ▶ start and ⏹ end points in the 3D viewer: the push blows from one toward the other.
  3. amount is the push in metres; keyframe it to animate. distance with a negative amount implodes.
  4. Warped splats carry motion, so they motion-blur correctly in the comp.

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultWhat it does
fieldChoicesweepWhat shapes the push: sweep (blow start → end), noise (swirl everywhere), distance (out from the start point — negative amount pulls IN), axis (shear along X/Y/Z). sweepnoisedistanceaxis
amountFloat1.0The push strength in metres. Keyframe it 0→N to animate the blow-away; negative reverses the direction.
start_xFloat0.0The ▶ start point's X — click it in the 3D viewer with place start.
start_yFloat0.0The ▶ start point's Y — click it in the 3D viewer with place start.
start_zFloat0.0The ▶ start point's Z — click it in the 3D viewer with place start.
end_xFloat0.0The ⏹ end point's X — click it in the 3D viewer with place end.
end_yFloat1.0The ⏹ end point's Y — click it in the 3D viewer with place end.
end_zFloat0.0The ⏹ end point's Z — click it in the 3D viewer with place end.
noise_scaleFloat1.0The noise field's feature size, world units — small scatters finely, large heaves in slow lobes.
seedInt1The random pattern's starting point. Change it for a different pattern of the same character; keep it to reproduce a frame exactly.
radiusFloat1.0Distance field: the push fades out by this radius from the start point.
axisInt1Axis field: which axis the shear runs along — 0 = X, 1 = Y, 2 = Z.
axis_fromFloat0.0Axis field: the coordinate where the shear begins.
axis_toFloat1.0Axis field: the coordinate where the shear ends.
regionChoiceoffLimit the warp to a box or sphere so it moves one object, not the world. offboxsphere
region_min_xFloat-1.0Region box: the X of the near corner, world units.
region_min_yFloat-1.0Region box: the Y of the near corner, world units.
region_min_zFloat-1.0Region box: the Z of the near corner, world units.
region_max_xFloat1.0Region box: the X of the far corner, world units.
region_max_yFloat1.0Region box: the Y of the far corner, world units.
region_max_zFloat1.0Region box: the Z of the far corner, world units.
region_center_xFloat0.0Region sphere: the X of its centre, world units.
region_center_yFloat0.0Region sphere: the Y of its centre, world units.
region_center_zFloat0.0Region sphere: the Z of its centre, world units.
region_radiusFloat1.0Region sphere: its radius, world units.
disabledBoolfalseBypass: the node passes its first input through untouched (D in the graph). The knobs keep their values for when it comes back.
labelTextA note shown under the node in the graph — what this node is FOR. Never affects the render or the cache.
hide_inputBoolfalseDraw the node without its input wire — a tidy graph for a node whose source is obvious (a Dot, a viewer tap).
